New Community Safety and Engagement Boards launched across Hertfordshire

Ten new local engagement boards are being launched by Hertfordshire Constabulary to capture the voices of a wide range of local communities on policing and crime.  

Community Safety and Engagement Boards (CSEBs) will be run in every district and borough led by their Neighbourhood Policing Teams, supporting the current work they do to engage with residents and businesses. 

Launched in Neighbourhood Policing Week (starting 15 June), the CSEBs will bring together community advisors, police officers, and partner agencies on a quarterly basis to share insight, raise concerns and help shape how policing responds to local issues. 

Community Advisors are a network of contacts who play a vital role in helping the constabulary understand the diverse needs and experiences of Hertfordshire’s communities. They are trusted links between the police and the public. 

Some areas in Herts have already launched their boards, however all areas will have them held in June or July. 

Through the regular CSEB meetings, community advisors will be able to: 

CSEB Project Lead Superintendent Kash Hussain said: “Our Community Advisors are an invaluable part of policing in Hertfordshire, helping us to better understand the communities we serve and respond to their needs. The launch of our Community Safety and Engagement Boards marks an important step in strengthening those relationships further. 

“These boards will ensure there is a clear and consistent forum at a local level where community voices can be heard, concerns can be shared, and solutions can be shaped together. By working closely with our communities and partners, we can continue to build trust, improve engagement and deliver a policing service that is inclusive and responsive to all communities in Hertfordshire.”

Neighbourhood Policing Teams are responsible for tackling local crime and anti-social behaviour issues, and building strong relationships across all communities. 

The CSEBs also support the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee the key pillars of which include community led policing.
